It feels like I’m flying when I lean back and close my eyes. The air rushes past me and my hair swirls out behind me. The repeated motion of the swing is hypnotising as I rock lazily. The creaking of the swing fills the air and I feel like I could stay here all day.
All of a sudden, I’m taken out of my daydream and placed back on earth. Someone has stopped the swing. I turn around to find the culprit and there is my annoying little sister Mia. Today I am meant to babysit her and she has been nothing but trouble.
“Please take me to the beach,” she whines.
Reluctantly, I take her hand and steer her to the beach. As she bounds happily along the sand I sulk behind, picking at the shells as I wander along. Colourful sails fill the horizon and waves lap lazily along the sand. Seagulls cry in the air as they search for their next victim, stupid enough to buy hot chips. After meandering on the beach for some time I find myself at the breakwall and Mia is nowhere in sight. Fear courses through me.
