One day I hope to come down from here. You see, there is a spell on me. If I come down I will turn into ash. The man, or wizard that put the spell on me isn’t nice. He kidnapped me, me – a 9 year old girl. Who kidnaps a 9 year old girl? Then he told me he had magical powers. He said if I leave this treehouse I will turn into ash. I have never tried escaping so today will be my first try. My name is Dylan. I live in Canada so it snows a lot. I know where I am, I know where I have to go. So, if I do escape, I know how to get home.
Just to see if I do turn to ash, I am going to throw a rock and see if it turns into ash. I threw it. It just landed with a plop. A smile grew on my face. I started to gather my clothes that the mean man had bought me – I guess he wasn’t that mean. I’m still going to try and escape. I started climbing down the long, swirly ladder. I hadn’t turned into ask yet. I had one more step to go. You know in the movies there is a moment when you wait for someone to do something. This is that moment right now. I put my foot down on the last step, then the snow. I didn’t turn into ash.
